National Human Trafficking Training and Technical Assistance Center 
NHTTAC is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office on Trafficking in Persons. NHTTAC delivers training and technical assistance (T/TA) to inform and enhance the public health response to human trafficking. 

Runaway and Homeless Youth Training and Technical Assistance Center 
RHYTTAC is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) as the training and technical assistance provider for all runaway and homeless youth (RHY) grantees. 

Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center 
OVC TTAC is a component of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs. OVC TTAC serves as the gateway to current training and technical assistance for victim service providers and allied professionals who serve crime victims.

Labor Trafficking | Sales Crew

The NHTRC received a call from Allison, a young woman in her 20s who had just left a traveling sales crew situation. Allison reported that she had learned of the sales crew job from a job placement center in her small hometown and it seemed like a good opportunity to travel and earn some money. After Allison joined the sales crew, she learned that there were daily sales quotas and if the crew members did not meet their quota they would be forced to work longer hours and would not be allowed to eat.

T Visa and the Trauma Exception

The T Nonimmigrant Status, or the T Visa, is a form of temporary immigration relief made available to foreign national victims of human trafficking under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000. In order to qualify for the T visa, an applicant must comply with any reasonable request from law enforcement to assist in the investigation or prosecution of their case, unless they are under the age of 18 or are unable to cooperate due to physical or psychological trauma.

Child Labor Trafficking in the United States

Between 1/1/2014 and 12/31/2014, the NHTRC hotline received reports of 5,042 potential human trafficking cases in the United States. 1,581 of these cases (31.4%) involved minor victims. The NHTRC defines a minor as an individual under 18 years of age. The following report is based on these cases.
