Mission Statement

At IOM, we operate from the outset that trafficking in persons needs to be approached within the overall context of managing migration. Our broad range of activities is implemented in partnership with governmental institutions, NGOs & international organizations. The approach is based on three principles that govern all our counter-trafficking activities:
• Respect for human rights
• Physical, mental & social well-being of the individual and his or her community
• Sustainability through institutional capacity building of governments & civil society
IOM in NL assists victims of trafficking who whish to return, from non-Western countries & Member States that joined the EU from 1 May 2014. Victims of human trafficking often have specific requests about their voluntary return to countries of origin. Due to their vulnerable position, the involvement of police & counselling organizations & fear of reprisals, the return of victims of trafficking requires careful preparation.
