Sergio contacted the National Human Trafficking Hotline for assistance in better understanding his rights. Sergio informed the National Hotline that he often worked extremely long days on a farm with no days off and no breaks. Sergio regularly received less than he had been promised for the hours he worked. Additionally, although Sergio was living in housing provided by his employer, he did not have access to a bathroom or clean running water. When Sergio spoke with his supervisors about the working conditions, they threatened to blacklist him from future employment. He also reported that they were withholding his immigration documents. With Sergio’s permission, the National Hotline connected him with a legal service provider who was able to ensure that he remained safe and that his rights were protected.
