Pictou County Roots for Youth is an organisation that has as its mission: “To offer support (be there through life changes) for the youth of our community to reach their dreams.” We have always been focussed on ending youth homelessness. But instead of providing short-term “Band-Aid” solutions, we want to address the holistic needs of the person to ensure that their homelessness is ended once and for all. Our programmes and way of working prevents youth homelessness through engaging vulnerable youth before they become homeless, responds to youth homelessness once it has occurred, and provides reintegration of the youth into the community, supporting that young person so they do not fall into homelessness once again.
