Red Cord Initiative is a community-based diversion program dedicated to providing practical, emotional, and social support for those experiencing commercial sexual exploitation through the mobilization and engagement of prevention, outreach, education, and advocacy services. The program addresses the myriad of behavioral, environmental, and psychological problems they have faced throughout their lifetime which have contributed to the choices, circumstances, or coercion that led to their victimization. To address these issues facing victims of commercial sexual exploitation, focuses on providing holistic rehabilitation, restoration and healing from the trauma experienced by victims of human trafficking. Red Cord Initiative provides safe and secure housing (emergency, short-term, and transitional), targeted outreach to identify individuals in need of help, comprehensive case management services, and active collaboration between law enforcement, prosecutors, and service providers. These services are essential for survivors as they navigate their way through the trauma they have experienced. Red Cord gives individuals their dignity back, opportunity to reach their full potential, control of their future and choices to gain self-esteem, self-empowerment, and self-control.
